Gender Studies & Intersectionality: Understanding Gender and Class Dynamics with Policies (GSDP 2024)

We are delighted to announce the upcoming conference aiming at the facets of gender dynamics, specifically focusing on women's experiences, challenges and triumphs in the 21st Century Anthropocene. Through insightful discussions, the conference aims to shed light on women's social, cultural and economic empowerment, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and achievements of women in various spheres. With its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, Bihar provides a unique backdrop for exploring gender issues. The state has witnessed remarkable strides in the recent years, with initiatives such as entrepreneurship development programs for women to create economic independence and empowerment.
However, challenges persist, including the need to promote Gender Equality and challenge Binary Paradigms that restrict women's freedom and agency. Gender Report Card 2019 highlights the position of women and girls in the state today and suggests areas that require further efforts for development. Moreover, there is a cavity of genuine knowledge about the Non-binaries, Transgenders and the different gender identities that exist within the social matrices. This conference provides a platform for scholars, activists, policymakers and practitioners to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue on gender issues across the globe, through a series of paper presentations, interactive sessions and insightful discussions. The conference looks forward to exploring innovative approaches to gender equality and women empowerment. Literature has been a powerful tool for challenging societal norms and a medium through which society explores complex themes and ideas, often reflecting and challenging prevailing values. Gender Studies cover a wide spectrum of literary expressions and have remained integral elements of World Literature, from the classical to the modern age. From providing pure delight, entertainment and social criticism to drawing attention to the fundamental incongruities and iniquities of life, writers have deployed their faculties with great effect. It is extraordinary to witness how this genre has seamlessly been incorporated as elements of narrative, characterisation, amplification and subversion, within the accepted conventions of various literary genres. It promises to be an intellectually invigorating and transformative event by deconstructing and reconstructing gender identities by traversing through an intersectional lens, to see how factors like race, class and disability create a complex web of challenges also for LGBTQ+ employees. A transgender woman of colour may face not only discrimination based on her gender identity but also racism and economic marginalization that compound those struggles. Examining these intersections allows us to develop inclusive policies and practices. The academic engagement in this horizon reflects the importance of disseminating targeted education and skill-building programs that cater to the needs of all genders, with a focus on business management, financial literacy and leadership skills.
